Love these! Thanks for the awesome freebie.

  2. These are lovely icons. Thanks so much for offering them for editorial geeks like me to use!

I plan to use your CMS (Chicago) icon on my business web site because I follow CMS style for many projects. But I’ll wait to do so until you also offer an icon for the AMA Manual of Style* and for Scientific Style and Format: The CSE Manual for Authors, Editors, and Publishers.**

Your fans may also want icons of some of the many style manuals found through the links at this page:

Thanks for passing on this information, as these look like some useful resources. The list especially is nice as it gives a better understanding to just how many style guides are available. We may have to release a 2nd edition of this set and hold a vote for which icons we release!

  3. I vote for the AMA manual, too. And the CP (Canadian Press) style book.

  4. avatar Mike Starr says:

Thanks much for these. I’d also suggest adding the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications, Read Me First (Sun Microsystems), Wired Style and Yahoo! Style to this group.

A couple other icon sets that might be useful would be a Desktop publishing/word processing set including Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, Ventura Publisher, Quark xPress and Adobe PageMaker and/or a Graphics Tools set including Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Visio.

  5. How about The ACS Style Guide: Effective Communication of Scientific Information? http://www.amazon.com/ACS-Style-Guide-Communication-Information/dp/0841239991/

  6. avatar Catherine says:

AMA style manual and also CSE style

  7. avatar Yateendra Joshi says:

Please consider including _New Hart’s Rules_, _New Oxford Dictionary for Writers and Editors_, and _New Oxford Dictionary for Scientific Writers and Editors_.

  8. avatar Jeanne McAdara-Berkowitz says:

These are wonderful! I second the requests for:
AMA (American Medical Association) Manual of Style and
CSE (Council of Scientific Editors) Scientific Style and Format
    Thanks!

  9. avatar Kristi Hein says:

Icons: add Recipes into Type, please

  10. avatar Kathryn Nelson Emily says:

Thanks for making these icons available! Would it be possible to also include icons for the American Medical Association Manual of Style and the Scientific Style and Format (the CSE Manual for Authors, Editors, and Publishers)?

  11. avatar Janice Mac Neal says:

Thanks for the icons! . With your style guide icons in hand, one now may declare graphically that “all words and punctuation are a stage and all the writers merely sayers.” Of course, I say that with apologies to W. Shakespeare.

My favorites are the Chicago Style Guide and Elements of Style. Thanks so much for the icons!

How about a Roget’s Thesaurus for writers everywhere? Poor Richard’s Almanac? Aesop’s Fables? McGuffey’s Fourth Eclectic Reader with its detail and historic charm would be beautiful as an icon, especially in the larger sizes, and teachers and history buffs would love it! Perhaps, as an observation to changing times and technology (and the side effects brought about to our use of language), do an icon with a cellphone screen with various texting-speak.

(Just a few ideas for you from an editor and icon-lover… since you asked for comments.)
