Laura Christianson Building a Successful Platform

Laura Christianson (www.laurachristianson.com), author of The Adoption Network, will be keynoting at the Ours Through Adoption Conference in Green Bay, Wisconsin March 14. She will be giving away a copy of The Adoption Network (a handbook for starting an adoption support system) to every conferee.

In addition to her keynote address, titled “Anticipating Adoption,” Laura will be teaching workshops on Adoptionomics (adoption funding) and adoption etiquette. She’ll also be coaching conferees one-on-one.

I love sharing good news about the successes of my friends, and if they are a WinePress author, it’s even better. Author Laura Christianson is a great example of an author persevering and working hard to build a ministry platform.

Laura founded Heartbeat Ministries. a support ministry for infertile couples and adoptive families. She has established herself as a “go-to” person on adoption. Years before Laura’s books were published she built a website and her Exploring Adoption blog. Her blog was listed in Forbe’s Magazine as the “best blog on parenting.”

WinePress has partnered with Laura to assist our authors in building strong blogging sites through her “day job,” www.HeBlogsSheblogs.com. (If you are one of our authors check details under Special Opportunities on our co-Captain system.)

During my son and daughter-in-law’s adoption process, I was continually going to Laura for support and information to help them. I knew Laura was pitching her book, The Adoption Decision, to several publishers. One day I finally told her, “We need your book! Publish with WinePress!” Laura agreed, but the very day she was going to sign on the dotted line with us, Harvest House offered her a contract. I was so excited for her.

Laura actually had two books on her heart; however, her publisher only had room for one on their list. So Laura published The Adoption Network with WinePress.

We partnered with her other publisher to make the two books similar in style and design. Her book with WinePress came out just weeks before the other one and she used it to build her marketing campaign.

Laura is a great example of how perserverance, hard work, and partnership can lead to success. Way to go, Laura!
