Pave a Smooth Road that Drives Customers to Your Business

Authors—particularly those who custom publish their books—often create quick, easy, low-quality promotional materials. They let the dollar figure scare them away from producing high-quality materials that will benefit their business and enhance their reputation.

Cheap promotions are like poorly-paved roads. They’re rough. They’re ugly. You have to drive cautiously on them and your chances of hitting potholes are high.

Take business cards, for example. If you buy sheets of print-it-yourself perforated business cards at an office supply store, you save money and can instantly create cards. And while such cards are okay to use in a pinch, people can tell the difference between homemade and professionally-designed and printed cards. Quality business cards make a subtle psychological difference.

As you plan your writing business, be prepared to invest in design, layout, and printing of your promotional materials. Quality materials create a solid foundation upon which to build your writing “road.”

On Thursday, we’ll introduce you to some quality, creative promotional materials that won’t bust your budget.
