Wearing something with a nice embroidered logo is a great way to start a conversation that could eventually lead to a discussion about your book.
We recently created denim shirts and fleece vests for the Northwest Christian Writers’ Association with the group’s logo and the words “Christian Writers” legible and easy to read. We’ve done the same thing at WinePress with vests, dress shirts, caps, and sweater sets.
At WinePress, we also create jumbo buttons for our authors. The buttons contain an image of the book cover and the words, “ASK ME ABOUT MY BOOK!” Talk about an easy way to start a conversation… most times, other people start it for you!
One of our authors, Marge Gordon, author of Jumpstart to Power Prayers, wears her button wherever she goes and reports that some amazing conversations—and book sales—result from her button.
We’ve even spotted an author at a grocery store, standing near the checkout counters and wearing a T-shirt that says (in big red letters): “Humor me, BUY MY BOOK!”
He also had a sign that said, “10% of all sales goes to local boys club.” That probably didn’t hurt his sales!
How do you get the conversations about your book going?
