How Can Mourning Be Good?

May 19th, 2008 Uncategorized by with No Comments

Brand New Day host Dudley Donaldson wanted to know, so tune to WHEM 91.3 FM on May 23rd and hear author Wendy Simon live at 5:10 PM (Central Time) answer questions about her book Good Mourning (Pleasant Word, 2008).

From the outside, Wendy Simon’s family life looked perfect. Her Harvard educated attorney father and her schoolteacher mother put on the appearance of a fairytale life in an upscale Jewish neighborhood. But inside their home, violence and incest raged and Wendy bore the brunt of it.

Good Mourning is the story of her journey out of dysfunction, despair, and fear into a new life of hope and ministry to others who have been abused.

Endorsements for Good Mourning:

“It is a long journey from liberal Judaism and sexual abuse to freedom in Christ. You will be blessed by reading Wendy’s story and learn much about the recovery process through her testimony and inspired insights.”
—Dr. Neil T. Anderson,
President of Discipleship Counseling Ministries

“Wendy’s story delivers a dose of reality. Anyone who is honest in his or her struggle to trust a good God, while having survived evil’s seemingly sovereign onslaught, will sense heart resonance here. Indeed, “we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” (2 Cor 4:7) God and good do overcome evil. Wendy’s journey shows us how to do this, ‘warts and all’.”
—Dr. David M.Groleau, Senior Pastor,
Cross View Church, Antioch, IL

Good Mourning exposes the naked truth of abuse and provides the wounded with garments of hope and healing. The author’s shining testimony sheds light on a massive problem that has been shrouded in secrecy for far too long and leads the reader to the Counselor who is able to dispel all darkness—the Light of the World. The resources this book provides are invaluable tools for those who wish to offer help for those suffering from the long-term effects of abuse. Thank you!”
