Corpus Christi Learns About ‘New Every Morning’

On April 8th, KCTA-AM host David Freymiller will speak with Pleasant Word author Jessica Renshaw about her fiction novel, New Every Morning, and will be aired at a later date.

When Elise’s elderly father becomes senile she gets stuck with taking care of him. She resents him for what he did to her when she was young. On top of that, he divorced her mother to marry a girl Elise’s age and his new wife made him cut off contact with Elise and her brother for thirty years. Elise feels angry at him for abandoning and neglecting her.

Does she want anything to do with him? Now he is at her mercy, does he deserve the kindness he refused to show her? Maybe, as her brother urges, they should just “warehouse the old man.”

New Every Morning is a story of betrayal and forgiveness in an isolated and dilapidated cabin among the redwoods of northern California. The beauties of nature surrounding the cast of characters contrast with agonizing and surprising plot developments. Will love, frustrated and almost extinguished over decades, rekindle in spite of the painful past? How can Wendell’s dementia become the best thing that ever happened to their relationship?
