‘Weed or Flower?’

Yesterday, The Tomahawk newspaper in Mountain City, Tennessee published an article about Deanna Snyder’s book, Weed or Flower? The article says, in part:

“God’s garden has no weeds,” says the author of Weed or Flower?, an anthology published by Winepress Publishing group in Enumclaw, WA last year. That author happens to be Johnson County’s own Deanna Snyder. “From my devotions and Scripture reading, thoughts would come,” says Snyder. “Those thoughts became words. Words became rhythmic phrases, and phrases became poems … ones that made me feel better about myself. Even while driving I’d ponder and write ideas on the writing pad I kept between the car seats. Once I had a collection, it took years to publish it. ‘These probably aren’t good enough,’ I’d think. I needed convincing that my words were worth sending out there – and God gave me that strength.”

Inferiority plagues American society today. So how does God convince His children that each is indeed individually and uniquely special to Him? How can we develop the self-confidence that enables us to see ourselves with a God-perspective, as an exquisite flower in His garden of life, and not as an undesirable weed, as Satan would have us believe?

Deanna Snyder, a former PK (preacher’s kid), plowed this ground through her teenage years, a troubled first marriage, and single parenthood, always acting as she thought others expected her to. But the Holy Spirit has persuaded her that, because of Jesus, it is possible to know beyond a doubt the uniqueness with which God has gifted His children and the distinct purpose He has planned for each life.

Weed or Flower? is a collection of poetry acknowledging Christians as precious members of God’s family. Deanna will guide you to a fresh, God-inspired self-perception, enabling you to function at a new level of confidence in defending your faith and ministering compassion to others and to yourself.
