The John Pendleton Show, based out of Jacksonville, Florida, is a well-known, conservative talk show that has interviewed the likes of General Tommy Franks, Ann Coulter, Bernard Goldberg and Mary Matalin, just to drop a few names.
John Klar visited with John Pendleton live on his show yesterday to discuss George W. Bush and Klar’s new book Christian Words, Un-Christian Actions.
Christians are called by the New Testament to emulate the example of Jesus Christ, and to shed their past lives and become more like Him. Is a nation that calls itself Christian exempted from this mandate? Have America’s Christians held their country’s government accountable to Christian standards?
George W. Bush gained the White House by bearing the standard of Christian faith. But if George W. actually represented just more politics as usual, and not a shift in the Oval Office toward Christian integrity, wouldn’t the American Christians who trusted him want to know?
Jesus Christ warned specifically and repeatedly that His followers must “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:15-16) Paul also emphasized the same warning over and over, sometimes very powerfully. (Acts 20:28-31) If Jesus and Paul said it would be so, then indeed many Christians will in fact be deceived by such a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
This book cries wolf, and admonishes Christians to heed the actions of those who proclaim Christ as Lord, for words without action are worse than nothing–they are Satan’s effort to deceive. Is it enough that George W. “appears” pious? Are Christians to then ignore Christ’s admonition, to watch for a man’s fruits, because a man feigns piety? Is it relevant whether Mr. Bush “believes” he is a good Christian, if in fact his conduct demonstrates otherwise? Americans must employ vigilance to keep their eyes on Jesus Christ, and not permit their spiritual vision to be clouded by any worldly leader, including Bush W.

Yesterday, The Tomahawk newspaper in Mountain City, Tennessee published an article about Deanna Snyder’s book, Weed or Flower? The article says, in part:
“God’s garden has no weeds,” says the author of Weed or Flower?, an anthology published by Winepress Publishing group in Enumclaw, WA last year. That author happens to be Johnson County’s own Deanna Snyder. “From my devotions and Scripture reading, thoughts would come,” says Snyder. “Those thoughts became words. Words became rhythmic phrases, and phrases became poems … ones that made me feel better about myself. Even while driving I’d ponder and write ideas on the writing pad I kept between the car seats. Once I had a collection, it took years to publish it. ‘These probably aren’t good enough,’ I’d think. I needed convincing that my words were worth sending out there – and God gave me that strength.”
Inferiority plagues American society today. So how does God convince His children that each is indeed individually and uniquely special to Him? How can we develop the self-confidence that enables us to see ourselves with a God-perspective, as an exquisite flower in His garden of life, and not as an undesirable weed, as Satan would have us believe?
Deanna Snyder, a former PK (preacher’s kid), plowed this ground through her teenage years, a troubled first marriage, and single parenthood, always acting as she thought others expected her to. But the Holy Spirit has persuaded her that, because of Jesus, it is possible to know beyond a doubt the uniqueness with which God has gifted His children and the distinct purpose He has planned for each life.
Weed or Flower? is a collection of poetry acknowledging Christians as precious members of God’s family. Deanna will guide you to a fresh, God-inspired self-perception, enabling you to function at a new level of confidence in defending your faith and ministering compassion to others and to yourself.

On November 20th Dawn Stefanowicz had an interveiw with Janet Parshall on Janet Parshall’s America talking about her book, Out from Under. You can also hear the rebroadcast on January 7, 2008.
Dawn knows from personal experience that the environment in which a child is raised matters. Her story delivers a provocative, gripping, no-holds-barred account of what it was like to grow up with a homosexual father, his partners, and a chronically ill and passive mother. Candidly, transparently, yet respectfully, Dawn raises the blinds on a home shrouded in secrecy, conflict, confusion, and abuse.
“Out from Under should be read by every legislator, lawyer, physician and mental health professional in a position to lobby for the best interests of children. May society heed Dawn’s courageous testimony and spare other innocents the suffering she and her siblings sustained.”
-Michelle A. Cretella, M.D., Board of Directors, American College of Pediatricians, and Chair, Committee on Sexuality, ACP, United States
“Out from Under is a personal account told in an emotional narrative. Stefanowicz tells of the enormous burden that was thrust upon her as a young person, a burden that is too great for any child. This story compels one to ponder the vulnerability of children, human suffering, and the meaning of life itself.”
-Senator Anne Cools, Ottawa, Canada
